Anti-ageing, how to do it right!
Anti-ageing, or as I'd like to call it, Step 2, (if you have not idea what I'm on about, check out my previous post on preventing ageing) Anyway, back to what I was saying, anti-ageing would have to be the absolute most number one thing Googled (that was not good sentence structure at all)…would it not? How to get rid of wrinkles, age spots, brighten skin, make your hair look healthier, well look no further, I’m going to give you a super quick run-down of the latest treatments for anti-ageing (minus hair stuff, I know nothing about hair, but I’ll get someone in for you guys and do a blog about it).
Quality skincare – I can’t stress this enough, I say it all the time, (pretty sure I said it in my last blog post) Quality skin care is the FOUNDATION of amazing skin. You can’t build a house on shitty foundations, it’s the same with your skin. Don’t go getting anti-wrinkle injections and fillers and facials just to walk out the door, go home and use some crappy supermarket rubbish! Walk yourself down to your local reputable Beauty Clinic and ask for a skin analysis and recommendations for skin care! If you’re not really into that, check out our range Skinjex here, we’re more than happy to chat with you over the phone, or email and make some recommendations of skincare for you, get in contact with us here.
I’m repeating myself…I’m sorry, WATER. Drink it, guzzle it, scull it…whatever, just get it into you!
Ok, what you’ve been waiting for – treatments! Omg, where do I even begin! Injectables? Yeah, let’s start there. Anti-wrinkle injections, this treatment is absolutely booming in popularity, why? Well for one, it works, and works well, secondly, it’s so quick and relatively pain-free that people get it done in their lunch breaks and go straight back to work without anyone even knowing! Areas that can be treated – Forehead, frown, crows feet (sides of eyes), eyebrow lift, bunny lines (where you scrunch up your nose), chin, dao’s (droopy mouth), nose flare, gummy smile, armpits (for sweating), just to name a few popular choices!
Dermal filler – Dermal fillers are made out of Hylauronic Acid (HA), HA is found naturally in the body, so really all you’re doing is just adding a touch more of a natural substance, kind of like have fruit for dinner A.K.A. Wine. Dermal filler is used for plumping up areas that have lost volume, or where you had little volume to begin with and would like to enhance what you’ve got already, popular areas are – Lips, cheeks, under eyes (tear troughs), nasolabial folds (lines from the outside of your nose to the outside of your mouth), marionettes (lines from the corners of your mouth down to your chin), jaw shaping and even hands!! But there's so many more options, if there's something that's bothering you, why not book a FREE consultation with us :)
Laser – There is like 10,000 types of lasers out there, I will do an additional post sometime about different lasers and their uses, but for intense laser resurfacing, in Qld (where we are) only Doctors can use ablative lasers such as CO2 lasers. Treatment with a CO2 laser is bar far the best option in terms of results, however there is extensive down time, so look for a reputable Doctor that has a fractionated CO2 laser, this will get you the same result with much less down time. If you’re not looking for such an intense treatment, then your local laser therapist may, or may not be able to help you out with a rejuvenating treatment with a non-ablative laser. Unfortunately (and fortunately) lasers are heavily regulated in Qld, and finding a therapist with their licence in all modalities of laser can be hard.
Chemical Peels – Probably one of my absolute favourite treatments, chemical peels are so wonderful, I love them, and no you won’t look like Samantha off Sex and the City either, you’ll walk out possibly a little pink, depending on how sensitive your skin is, the next few days you might have some light flaking, then bobs your uncle, baby soft skin! Chemical peels are inexpensive and quick, and I just think they’re the bees knees (I’m so old, look at how I talk). Why this treatment isn’t more popular I have no idea, if you want to see what I’m on about, come book in –
Skin needling – Skin needling is a little more intensive than a peel, but the results are amazing, with very little down time (minimum 24 hours) this is one of the most popular treatments in our clinic. It involves running an electric pen with micro needles in the tip across your skin multiple times, don’t worry, we use a numbing cream, and it’s so superficial it just feels like scratching mostly. But, what it does is induces a ‘heal’ response in our bodies, and how do our bodies heal the skin? They create NEW collagen and elastin! This process of building new collagen and elastin continues for 12 months! Ahhhhmazing! It also treats a lot of different concerns – fine lines & wrinkles, skin clarity, pore size, acne scarring and pigmentation! So depending on what you want to achieve, you’ll need anywhere from 3-10 treatments, then just maintenance treatments every 3-4 months after that!
This is just the tip of the iceburg in terms of treatment options, but by far some of my favourites, hence why we use them in our clinic, and you can book any of them, and more here, but, not all are going to suit your skin, sometimes it’s a bit of trial and error to find what suits you. Speak to someone with a good knowledge of the skin and get some recommendations. Until next week xx
